Director's Message

Greetings from DDU KAUSHAL Kendra, Loyola College, Chennai.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra is a visionary scheme launched by the Central Government of India and the University Grants Commission, to promote vocational education in the countryand to increase employability to Students. This Scheme aims to transform India into the skill capital of the world and to bridge the industry-academia gap.

Loyola College is one of the first premier institutes in the Country to be awarded with this scheme, starting the Vocational Programs of B.Voc. &M.Voc. 3D Animation and Digital Journalism. The College with the history of 95 years of contribution in the Educational arena, with the status of “College of Excellence” stands as the right choice to offer this skill oriented training to the student community.

Digital Journalism and 3D Animation programs offered by the department are skill based and job oriented. Students are getting placed full time in reputed media and entertainment companies apart from part-time jobs during their course duration.

We have an amazing team in place. Our faculty members are experts in their respective fields well qualified with the necessary academic and industry experience. We have evolved the syllabus complying with the standards and procedures of the University ofMadras and the University Grants Commission. Our syllabus is rightly aligned tothe National Occupational Standards and the Qualification Packs as set by the MESC and NSDC.

The KAUSHAL Kendra department is well equipped with state of the art infrastructure facilities. This includes 2 Multimedia Labs with 75 high end workstations enabled with latest software like Maya, 3DS Max, Microsoft Office and Adobe Package. It also has a drawing studio with 50 drawing tables, light box with capturing devices for animation and a Communication lab with 50 systems.

The 380 students in UG and PG degrees of the department get opportunities for internships, part time work and on-the job training. The department also maintains an online portfolio of student works to showcase their talents to prospective employers. Students also contribute to the design and content of the department's annual Newsletter published under the guidance of Faculty Editors.

Students are engaged with several workshops & guest lectures from leaders of the industry, with special focus on providing hands on experience to the latest technological advancements in the industry and to generate job opportunities.

Assessment and certification by Media and Entertainment Skill Council (MESC) is conducted for the students to provide Employability and Entrepreneurship opportunities.
