Annual Report (2006 - 2007)

The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF).

Some of the important events that have taken place in the college are:

  • 10th Dec’1953 - 2nd Jan’1954 - Leadership Camp. This was the first Asian Catholic student Movement’s meeting.
  • 19th - 22nd Dec’1960 - Chaplains Session. It was a landmark in the history of the growth of AICUF movement, which was attended by about 20 chaplains and 12 sisters.
  • 14th - 17th June’ 1989 - 3rd AICUF National Convention. Constitution of AICUF was adopted which was subsequently ratified in the 4th National Convention held between 9th - 12th June’1999.
  • 29th - 30th Dec’1997 - Dalit Convention. It brought together students from 50 colleges throughout the state of Tamil Nadu.

Enshrined Aims and objectives (of the Constitution of AICUF)

  • To enable the students to develop awareness and a critical analysis of the country and world situation. To cultivate a deep and genuine concern for the oppressed and marginalized and to effectively commit themselves to the task of a new and just society.
  • To motivate students to get involved in studies, research and activities linked to the broader social issues and struggles with a view to become a creative and critical force within the universities.
  • To enable Christian students to play a prophetic role in their communities through a living and critical understanding of their faith.
Membership
  1. The membership of AICUF is open to university students who share the ideals of the movement as enshrined in the constitution. However, every member state has the autonomy to decide on its own policy, regarding membership.
  2. Every member is entitled to participate in all the decision-making activities of the unit. A member can be elected as an office bearer only on the completion of one year in AICUF.
  3. Each AICUF member pays a regular subscription to the unit as fixed by the respective state.
