AIESEC IN LOYOLA COLLEGE

AIESEC is the worlds largest youth run organisation, and the second largest NGO.Started in the year 1948,with the motive of world peace,AIESEC is currently spread across 91 countries ain over 850 universities. The international headquarters is situated in Rotterdam, Netherlands and the national headquarters is situated in Godrej industries, Mumbai.

AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization, run by students and recent graduates of higher education. Our international platform enables young people to discover and develop their potential to provide leadership for a positive impact on society.

We run more than 350 conferences, provide 3,500 work abroad opportunities and offer over 5,000 leadership positions to our members each year. AIESEC has, each year since 1948, worked to fulfill the mission of developing young people to be individuals able to meet the challenges of the world, our countries and local communities.

AIESEC is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential.

AIESEC Chennai

Started in 1984 and has evolved
Into one of AIESEC in India's most progressive Local
Committees. Consistently among AIESEC India's best performing
Exchange LCs, AIESEC in Chennai has shown excellent results
in both the Outgoing and Incoming Exchange Programmes, of
Technical, Management and Developmental nature. AIESEC in Chennai realised 36 exchanges in the term May 2000 to March 2001.
It was the most progressive local chapter in all of India (which has 15 chapters at the moment) in 1999-2000
And since then there has been no looking back.

AIESEC Chennai will be hosting the National congress later this year in Kodaikanal.

AIESEC in India also hosted the International conference in Agra last year.

AIESEC Chennai conducts various activities through the course of the year. Currently we are running to projects, one on HIV aids awareness and the other being education for the under privileged children.

We also conduct various events. This year we hosted an AIDS awareness rally on the 19th of august on the Marina beach, where over 400 people participated in the rally. We had partnered with companies such as Perot systems,Selvel,Dexterity,Lifecell,Prodapt,VBJ and NGO’s such as APAC(aids prevention and control).

In the month of October, we will be hosting an Annual business in the Taj corromandel hotel it is a congregation of all of our stakeholders and clients where the guest speaker confirmed for the evening is Mr.M.M Murugappan director Murugappa group of industries.

The conferences that have been attended this year by AIESEC in Loyola College have been June national conference, Goa.Local conference ECR.

Also two students from our college were selected this year to attend an International conference in Poland from the 22nd of august to the 1st of September,2006.

The other conferences that will be attended this year is the national strategic conference, National leadership development seminar for all the new recruits.

August Recruitment

Every year AIESEC Chennai as all the Local Chapter across the National Association have worked to get the best people into the organization from the best colleges in our city. Its always been a huge responsibility on Aiesec Chennai to ensure that our successors are able to carry forward the culture, traditions, values and most importantly the passion that exists in our hearts for the this wonderful organization over the coming years. Every year recruitment has pretty much decided the future of an Aiesec Chennai making it undoubtedly one of the most important tasks for the Local Chapter to carry out.

Recruitment consists of the following processes

SELECTION

This is the most challenging part of the entire recruitment, which at the moment consists of 3 steps. the applicants put through a group discussion of various burning issues in the world. Then a part of them are selected to go through a personal interview and then a business simulation. All through these applicants are judged on their communication skills, knowledge levels, logical ability etc…

INDUCTION

Once the members are selected they are introduced to the world of Aiesec. They are taught about the work, the culture, the brand and their existence in Aiesec. These members then move on to take up various projects, posts, and positions and move on to choose their specific Aiesec career.

We have recruited 33 to add to our membership base of 21.
