LOYOLA PRAYER GROUP
To know, to love and to serve the Lord
The Loyola Prayer Group is a small group of like-minded students
whose aim is to serve the Lord. The Prayer Group or LPG as it is
fondly called, together
with the Campus Ministry team co-ordinate the religious activities in the campus.
A core team who work under the guidance of Fr. L. X. Jerome S. J, the Campus
Ministry coordinator and Dr. G. Francis Xavier Raj, the Staff in-charge, leads
the Prayer Group. The members meet in the 1st floor of J. D. Block (Room No.
88), which is the Loyola Prayer Room. The Loyola Prayer Room has the serene atmosphere
of a Chapel and inspires everyone who step into the room to sit down and contemplate
for a while.
The Prayer Group conducts the choir for the College Mass and for all the annual
retreats that are organized for the students by the Campus Ministry. The members
of the Prayer Group have either the Eucharistic Adoration or Holy Mass celebrated
in the Prayer room every month.
The Rosary is recited every morning at 7.45 am in the Loyola Prayer Room. The
members of the Prayer Group meet everyday at 1.45 pm for Praise and Worship and
the weekly prayer meetings are held on Wednesdays. The members also gather for
intercessory
prayers every Monday. The members of the prayer group make a closed growth retreat
every year with the belief that only by forming ourselves can
we form others.
Every work in the Prayer Group is carried out cheerfully and whole-heartedly
complying
with the Jesuit motto “For the greater Glory of God.”
