The year started with an inauguration of the forum at Lawrence sundaram hall on 5 th August 2010. The gathering was addressed by Dr. Swathi Kapadia and Mr. Hubert, SABNAM resources, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Principal. She brought up the concerns of abortion and urged the prolifers to desist from unnecessary abortion in their lives. A short film on abortion was screened for the benefits of the members. Dr. J.M. Vimala Kalaiarasi took charge as the faculty advisor from the hands of Dr. S.J.Kingsley.
On 18th August, 2010, MCCSS organised a sticker campaign on ‘stop trafficking'. The stickers were released by Rev. Dr. Lawrence puis, Aux.Bishop, archdiocese of Madras , Mylapore. Rev. Fr. Principal appreciated the idea of prolifers stopping the trafficking in the womb itself.
Members of the club sensitised people about prolife's cause and various issues during the Chennai marathon 29thaugust, 2010.
Club members came out in an integrated support of Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims by distributing pamphlets on the eve of Black flag day. They further displayed banners the next day (9th September, 2010), to show solidarity with the plight of the dalits.
A huge crowd gathered to view the informative street play performed by the prolifers to disseminate information on issues pertaining to abortion, on 23rd September, 2010.
‘Understand the Unborn' – a one day workshop was organised on 25th September, 2010. The event was presided over by Dr. S. Vincent, Member Secretary of Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology. Dr. Kalaiarasi's omnipresence encouraged the students to imbibe valuable aspects of the discourse.
On 25 th November 2010, club members attended a discussion on “Misconception on Secularism”, held at the Madras Press Club, Chepauk.
A workshop on “Women's concern & Human rights “, in collaboration with FLOWS was held on 16th February 2011. Prof. C R Rene Robin, HOD of Computer Science Dept. of Jerusalem College of Engineering was the chief
guest.
A separate web site was created exclusively for prolifers to monitor the work done by the members transparently.
A CD on ‘Baby's Voice' was released on the valedictory function of the prolife on 3rd March 2011. |
