HOD's Message

India is a land of diverse cultures with around 1600 spoken languages, which is the uniqueness of India. All languages have their own richness, uniqueness and significance. Till date, thousands of students have not only scored well in the subject but also have developed their knowledge and understanding of Indian culture and civilization through the language. In the domain of ancient classical languages, the Hindi language represents novelty. With simplicity in structure and form, it is spoken widely. Today, in the global ranking of most spoken languages in the world, Hindi ranks second, next to Mandarin Chinese. Hindi is spoken in a number of countries including Nepal, Mauritius, Fiji, Singapore, South Africa, America, Suriname, Uganda, Britain, New Zealand, Germany, Trinidad and Tobago. Hindi is also taught in foreign schools, colleges and universities.

Having imbibed the nuances of the language, the students are able to understand the cultural, social and secular fabric of the nation and are able to communicate proficiently in different contexts. Hindi as a medium of communication has an immense market with big stakes. In such a scenario, knowledge of Hindi would bring forth new opportunities of employment.

Language is a quintessential part of our social existence and hence, the department of Hindi, like the other language departments, is committed to developing the personality of its students through teaching Hindi language and literature. In addition to teaching, the department conducts competitions and programs on Hindi Day that is celebrated on the 14th of September every year. Guest lectures and online webinars are conducted from time to time for the benefit of students. Students are also encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate cultural activities and competitions and bring laurels to the institution. The faculty members are actively engaged in extensive research activities and they also serve as members of the Board of Studies, Question Paper Setters and Examiners in other Colleges and Universities.
