Annual Report (2006-2007)
About YRCS
Though YRCS Loyola unit has been rendering its service to the needy and to
the students for over a decade. YRCS was formally installed in this academic
year (2005-2006) Mr.Sharath babu; actor and social worker presided over the
function as the chief guest. The unit has a total membership of 450 students,
and 30 office bearers.
The Objectives of YRCS:
* Promotion and protection of health and life.
* Selfless services to the sick and suffering.
* Promotion of national and international friendship.
* Disaster relief to the victims.

A student should pay Rs. 75 at the YRCS office and get his/her name registered
as a member for the year 2005.

Activities of YRCS:
Given below is a list of major projects that our YRCS unit has undertaken
since the commencement of this Academic Year.
Blood Donation
*Volunteers have donated blood for the underprivileged and needy. Nearly 250
units of blood have been donated during the past six months.
*On the 30th of September, we conducted a blood camp teaming up with the IRCS,
where 60 units of various blood types were collected. Thus enabling
the participation
of a 100 students of Loyola College towards this noble cause.
*A seminar on awareness for blood donation and blood grouping camp was conducted
with the help of Medical Lab Technology students.
Hospital Service
*Volunteers have constantly rendered their invaluable services during weekends
at Government Hospitals.
*There are plans to continue this service on weekdays too.
Community Service:
*Constant support has been given to under-privileged children by providing
them with notebooks and other learning aids.
*A number of health related meetings and distribution of pamphlets related
to
health are executed.
*Old clothes are being collected from students for people struck by natural
calamities.
*There are plans to collaborate with outreach program and conduct health camps
in slum areas.
YRCS activities:
* Members and YRCS programme officers took part and won many prizes in
the 56th Anniversary of Geneva Conventions.
* There are plans to conduct inter college cultural programs for the YRCS members.
Up coming projects in this academic year:
* AIDS awareness workshop
* Planting of saplings in and around the campus
* Anti-Smoking and Anti-Drug Campaign
* First-aid Training Program
* Production of documentaries on health hazards
* Helping the visually challenged students to record their lessons on cassette
* A proposal to build a ramp for the disabled students in the college main
building
with the consensus of the management
In addition to these activities, many more services are rendered coalescing
Ngo’s and other Government organizations.
