The Media Catalyst Award, instituted this year by the Department of Visual Communication & BMM at Loyola College, Chennai, is a special recognition created to honour outstanding alumni who have made meaningful contributions to the media and creative industries in India and abroad. Loyola’s Visual Communication corridors have nurtured generations of storytellers, filmmakers, journalists, designers, and media professionals who continue to influence society through their works.
By introducing this award, the department acknowledges the achievements of its alumni and celebrates the impact they have made beyond the campus. Recognising alumni is important because it highlights the strong legacy of the department and the values instilled in its students – creativity, critical thinking, responsibility, and innovation. It also strengthens the bond between the institution and its graduates, reminding current students that the Loyola learning experience continues to shape lives long after graduation.
The Media Catalyst Award serves as an inspiration for present and future students. When alumni who once walked through the same corridors are honoured for their achievements, it shows students the possibilities that lie ahead. Their journeys reflect perseverance, passion, and the ability to use media as a tool for social change and storytelling.
Ultimately, this award celebrates not only individual success but also the collective spirit of Loyola VisCom – a community that continues to produce media professionals who catalyse ideas, conversations, and positive change in society.
