Successful Execution of Department Elections 2026-27

The elections for the Department of Visual Communication and Multimedia Animation for the academic year 2026-27 were successfully conducted on Thursday, the 2nd of July, 2026. The democratic process determined the leadership for four critical executive secretary positions. In alignment with department structural guidelines, the senior portfolios of Department Secretary and Cultural Secretary were contested exclusively by 3rd Year students, while the leadership roles of Joint Secretary and Sports Secretary saw enthusiastic contestation from 2nd Year students.

Election Leadership & Governance

Prior to the commencement of the electoral proceedings, the department officially announced the leadership framework for the academic year. Prof. Samson Durai was appointed as the President of the Department Association, alongside Prof. Anitha K., who assumed office as the Vice President.

To guarantee transparency, accountability, and absolute adherence to institutional regulations, a high-level Department Election Committee was formed. The committee was headed by the Head of Department, Rev. Fr Justin Prabhu SJ, and joined by esteemed former association leaders, including former Department Association President Prof. Milton Ravichandran and former Vice-President Prof. Sahana. Strategic guidance was provided by the advisory board members, Dr. Bharathi (Shift 2 Coordinator) and Prof. J. S. Chithra.

Electoral Timeline & Voting Operations

The comprehensive nomination protocol was initiated on Wednesday, the 1st of July. Aspiring leaders underwent rigorous vetting, submitting documents verifying their mandatory academic attendance thresholds, clean disciplinary track records, robust scholastic performances, and notable extracurricular accolades won representing the college. Following methodical evaluation, the Department Election Committee published the official manifest of certified eligible candidates at 11:00 AM on July 2nd.

Nomination Phase: Submission of credentials, attendance proofs, academic and disciplinary history.

Eligibility Reveal: Publication of vetted candidate lists by the Election Committee.
12:00 PM
Manifesto Presentations: Candidates outline their visions and structural agendas.
12:30 PM
Polling Begins: Ballot boxes open, starting sequentially with Shift 1 students.
1:30 PM
Shift 2 Operations: Afternoon polling shift opens for remaining department voters.
3:00 PM
Polling Closes: Ballot collections conclude; immediate transition to counting phases until 5:00 PM.

The culmination of a long, rigorous, and highly competitive election process took place at 5:15 PM inside the packed Viscom Preview Theatre, where the final results were formally declared.
