Teaching Methodology

Beyond the boundaries of Visualisation…

One of the finest methods for teaching multimedia students is Project-Based Learning (PBL), which enables them to learn by doing. Students work on artistic projects such short films, animations, websites, or brand designs rather than just theory. Through these initiatives, they get the same skills as industry professionals in terms of planning, designing, producing, and delivering creative material. It also aids in the development of their time management and teamwork abilities as well as their portfolio.
A classroom setting that resembles a real multimedia studio is produced through studio-based learning. Regular review sessions allow students to receive feedback on their work from classmates and teachers. To gain an understanding of how professional studios operate, they go through all three stages of the creative process: pre-, production, and post-production.
Since multimedia requires a variety of skills, Cross-disciplinary learning is particularly beneficial. Encouragement should be given to students to pursue relevant careers in Animation and VFX Production, game development, and UX/UI design. Students develop into more adaptable and imaginative problem solvers by studying how multimedia interacts with technology, narrative, and business. More employment alternatives are also made possible by this type of learning.
The main goal of skill-based module training is to teach students industry-specific software tools and innovative methodologies. For instance, Blender can be used to teach animation, Adobe Premiere Pro can be used for editing, and Figma can be used to teach user interface design.

To help students grasp how to use the tools in practical situations, each piece of software is associated with imaginative assignments. This method fosters both creative thinking and solid technical abilities.
The final year should include a Capstone Project and Portfolio Development to help students get ready for the workforce. Each student ought to produce a showreel of their finest work, a portfolio website, and a personal brand. Before they graduate, students receive insightful feedback on their projects from instructors, alumni, and even professionals in the sector. When applying for jobs, a strong portfolio frequently makes the difference.
Through internships and reflective practice, students can gain practical experience by working for a brief time at studios, businesses, or media outlets. They write a reflection on what they have learnt and maintain a weekly journal throughout this period. Following the internship, students talk about their experiences with instructors and fellow students, which helps them better comprehend and apply to the professional world.
Last but not least, assessment based on industry rubrics implies that students are assessed using presentations, peer evaluations, creative projects, and client feedback in addition to formal quizzes and exams. This approach demonstrates how well students may use their knowledge and abilities in practical settings. It equips them for real-world careers where problem-solving and creative output are more valued than grades.
