FACILITIES

Bag Deposit Counter
•  Library users should deposit their bag and get a token. White papers, notebooks, laptop and money wallet alone would be allowed inside the Library.
•  Please avoid keeping any valuable items in your bag. Keep the token safely, till you retain your bag while you are leaving.  

Reception
•  Library users should tap their Identity card in the Identity card reader kept at the right side of electronic gate (outside) for Entry & left side of electronic gate (inside) for Exit.
•  Any query related to library can be raised, either they would respond or they would guide to the right person.  

OPAC & New Arrivals

•  Online Public Access Catalogue - gives the details regarding Library Print resources. OPAC can be accessed from anywhere. For specific details refer the submenu 'Print Resources (OPAC) {How to use}' under the menu 'Resources'.
•  New Arrivals - Randomly selected new books is displayed at the rotating book stand for few days before it is it is shifted to the respective sections.  

Newspapers
•  English and Tamil Newspapers (13) and few non academic magazines are kept here for reference. No lending, if necessary can be photocopied.  

Book Self Service Terminals
•  In the terminal first select the Option
for ISSUE - first place your Identity Card in the space provided, then place the book in the space provided (spine of the book should touch the machine). Once you see the success message (with the due date) in the screen, you can take the book. For more than one book, place the other book in the space provided...(repeat the above mentioned process). While leaving take your Identity Card and press the Exit menu. -If you try to take more number of books (beyond your eligibility) or reference books terminal will show error message.

for RETURN - place the book in the space provided (spine of the book should touch the machine). Once you see the success message in the screen you can take the book and place it in the book trolley kept near the Terminal. For more than one book, place the other book in the space provided...(repeat the above mentioned process).While leaving press the Exit menu.
-You can return upto five books one by one, of any Identity Number without pressing the exit menu.

for RENEWAL - first place your Identity Card in the space provided, the screen will display the list of books in your name. From the list press the renewal menu for the book which you need, then press the confirm menu. Once you see the success message (with the due date), take your Identity Card and press the Exit menu before leaving.
-If you try to renew a overdue book, terminal will show error message.  

for STATUS - place your Identity Card in the space provided. Screen will display the list of books in your name. While leaving take your Identity Card and press the Exit menu.
•  One Rupee per day (including holidays-after the due date) will be collected as overdue charges for the books returned after the due date. You can clear the dues once in a semester before getting your hall ticket. Challan for paying Library dues can be generated separately or along with other dues.
•  All your transactions will be immediately updated in your portal.
•  Before leaving please check the condition of the book, if any damage is found while returning you will be held responsible for it.

Photocopier
•  Only library documents will be allowed, no outside materials will be entertained.
•  Library documents will not be allowed outside for Photocopying.
•  One Rupee will be charged per exposure.

Reference Section
•  Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Multiple Volume Books, Year Books, Government Publications, Preparatory and objective, Foreign Publications, General Knowledge Books, one copy of text books, Popular Books and some other titles as decided by Librarian will be in the Reference Section.
•  Books are arranged call number wise starting from 001 to 998.
•  These books are meant only for reference, either you can sit and refer or utilise the photocopy facility.  

Lending Section

•  This section is arranged in five major divisions. Under each division the books are arranged Call number wise. All the books in this section are meant for lending.
•  Social Science (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Commerce, Economics, Media)
•  Science (all science subjects)
•  English Language and Literature
•  History (History, Geography, Political Science, Biography)
•  Tamil Language and Literature & other (Oriental & Foreign Languages, Journalism, Philosophy, Religion, Sports)

Journal Section
•  Subscribed Journals are arranged in Alphabetical order in the journal display shelf.
•  Latest available Issue will be kept at the front. Back issues of the current year are kept behind those shelves.
•  Behind the Journal display shelves we have the Magazine display shelf. Complimentary journals and magazines are kept there.
•  Next to Magazine display shelf, we have Journal Back volumes. Subscribed Journals are bounded and arranged alphabet wise. In alphabet it would be year wise.
•  Journals, Magazines and Back Volumes are meant only for reference. If necessary Photocopy facility can be utilised.

Book Bank

•  Text Books related to all Subjects are kept here. As per their eligibility students can lend the books from here.
•  The duration for these books is one semester. Books are arranged call number wise starting from 001 to 998.

Loyola College Digital Library (LCDL)

•  Digital Library of our college can be accessed from anywhere within the campus and also outside campus. To Access Subscribed resources from outside campus (through individual User name and password) contact the Library.
•  Digital Library Menu (Resources) is placed as sub menu of Library menu in our College Website.
•  For specific details refer the submenu 'E-Resources {How to Use}'.
•  Utilise the systems in the Digital Library for academic purpose only.

Plagiarism Detection Software

•  Library has access to URKUND, a licensed plagiarism detection software.
•  Our Library users can send their write-up in word or PDF format, through e-mail to library@loyolacollege.edu by mentioning their Department number. The result will be forwarded to their mail.  

Printing Centre
•  All documents referred from Digital Library, ERP forms and any other source can be sent through mail to loyolaprintcentre@gmail.com. One Rupee is charged per print out.
•  Photocopier facility (one rupee per exposure) is available for outside documents.

Own Book Reading Room
•  Students can utilise this facility to refer their own books (Notebook or Textbook).    

General Norms

•  Please wear your Identity Card while you are inside the library. Identity Card should not be lend or borrowed.
•  Please avoid bringing Non Library Documents (Except - Notebooks for taking down notes) into the Library.
•  Books in all the sections are arranged Call Number wise. Among Call number it will be author wise (alphabet order).
•  Journals (Current Issue & Back Volumes) are arranged in Alphabetical order. Among the Title it will be year wise.
•  If you are not able to replace the books & journals in proper place, just leave it on the table, do not insert in wrong place. Please avoid hiding or tampering books.
•  Avoid entering into the sections beyond the stipulated time.
•  For any transaction follow queue system, maintain silence and avoid speaking in cell phones.
•  Closed-Circuit TV Cameras are installed at specific points.
